I have been working on my classroom for over a month now, only taking a break when I was forcibly removed so that our custodians (who are total rockstars, by the way) could wax my floor. Everyone has warned me that I will get burnt out, but I really don't see that happening in the foreseeable future!
It's taken me a long time because I opted to paint my classroom. I wanted something kid-friendly, but not what I call "hokey." I don't want rainbows and teddy bears and unicorns and cartoon kids holding hands -- it's just not me. I like clean and modern. So, after many sleepless nights, I decided on chevron stripes.
Using the AC unit as a ladder: don't try this at school, kids.
It took about a week and a half of painting (with lots of help from my mom and cousin, Emily), but I think the result was well worth the trouble:
I only did the stripes on one wall, the rest are a crisp white with gray accents. I went with gray for a few reasons. One, it is my favorite neutral. Two, being in a primary-color dominated room (such is life in kindergarten!), I wanted something that wouldn't clash with my tables, etc. I added the orange stripe to go with our school colors, and for fun! :)
Note the cute gray chair bags! My grandmother is a total master and made these for each kiddo to keep their stash of school supplies. This frees up MUCHO space in my not-exactly-large classroom.
